Tips for school camp

Prepare and pack together

Packing for camp is much easier when you have help. We recommend going through your packing list with a parent / carer and packing your things together. That way, you don’t have to worry about forgetting anything and can start getting excited about camp.

Go on a sleepover

Camp is the ultimate sleepover! If you haven’t slept away from home before, why not arrange a sleepover at a friend or family member’s house? It’s a great way to practise packing an overnight bag and can help you feel more comfortable sleeping somewhere new.

Practise independent skills

Practising skills independently can help you feel more confident when you get to camp. Whether that’s applying sunscreen properly, doing your hair, operating a torch or packing your sleeping bag into its cover – a bit of practice will make you a pro in no time.

Talk about your feelings or concerns

If you’re worried about camp, have a chat with your parents, school or friends. Your school will be able to answer any questions you have and your friends may feel the same way! Remember, there are so many fun aspects of camp and if there are challenges, we’re here to support you.

Get familiar with our school camps

Many students feel nervous about camp because they’re not sure what to expect. To reduce the fear of the unknown, speak with your school to get an idea of what you’ll be doing each day. You can also keep reading to learn more about the amazing staff, activities, food and accommodation you can expect at camp.
