Howmans Gap Discovery Camp welcomes guests from all walks of life. Our purpose-built accessible building caters to people with disabilities, and we aim to offer camp experiences that everyone can take part in.
Our accessible facilities and activities include:
- Accessible buildings including our main accommodation block, office, conference room, dining room
- Alpine Accessible Accommodation Building
- Changing Places bathrooms
- Accessible bathrooms include:
- Shower commodes as a supportive alternative for guests who find bench seats uncomfortable or lacking support
- Adjustable shower heads
- Trailrider wheelchairs
- Accessible wintersport activities
- Accessible summer activities
- Catering for allergies or dietary needs
Access All Abilities (AAA) Building
The Access All Abilities (AAA) Building is a universal-design, accessible accommodation facility. It helps guests with vision, hearing or mobility impairments access alpine experiences like:
- Skiing (downhill and cross country)
- Canoeing
- Mountain-biking
- Bush walking trails
- Overnight camping in the high country
- Ropes courses
- Archery
The AAA building is the first facility of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere. It was built in partnership with the Victorian Government and Disabled Wintersport Australia. The facility is open to Disabled Wintersport Australia members and the wider community.
